I arrived at U.S.C.G. Air Station San Juan in May of 1968 and Rex Barton was one of the first individuals I met. We both were structural mechanics and we became close. He was a good friend. After leaving the Coast Guard, I returned to my home on Cape Cod but reconnected when Rex was reassigned to the local air station.

In 1975, I left Cape Cod to find my new adventures and never returned except for the occasional visit. I didn't see Rex again until he retired. I will always remember Rex being a great Coast Guardsman. A wild and crazy guy with a big heart. He will be missed.
