Hawaiian Air Tour Service

My first meeting with Hans Mueller and Hawaiian Air Tour Service was in 1983, when I was asked to assist Seagull Air Hawaii with obtaining a FAA Part 135 certification. I knew that operating a De Havilland Heron in Hawaii would require a relationship with HATS. Having that relationship was not an easy task. Read more when you click Hans & HATS.

After my months with Hans and company, while traveling for business or attending aviation conferences, I would meet former pilots that started their careers with HATS. They had their own stories but all had fond memories of flying the islands in Doves and Herons. With having 2 pilots in each of the more than eleven aircraft, flying for more than twenty years you can get an idea of how many pilots flew for HATS. It is an incredible story.

Note: Not sure of rank posted. There couldn't be 2 Hollis E. Muellers born 1925 and died 2003. Hans was at least a Lieutenant at discharge.

HATS brochure above was scanned in sections. Will rescan on large format when possible.

The Mueller family was part of the grand tradition of making cheese for generations in Monroe, WI
As the years went by Hans Mueller was being compared to Howard Hughes... maybe for his insight but probably for his appearance
